NBA All-Star Dunk Contest
We were asked to create a video that introduced Jaime Jaquez Jr. to the 2024 NBA All-Star Dunk Contest. It played on broadcast and on the LED court floor right before Jaime’s first dunk.
The Team :
Carlos Maya : Motion Graphics
Chris Beltran : Creative Director
Jonathan Beltran : Editor/Producer
Handmade Look Without Hands
This simple After Effects expression got a lot of use in the video.
A Little Roto Goes a Long Way
Rotoscoping or the process of separating talent from the background can be a time consuming process. The stop motion visual style allowed us to hold single frames on screen longer allowing for maximum impact.
Celebrating NBA Mexican Heritage
For Jaime’s second dunk our focus was on his Mexican heritage. The video we produced to introduce his second dunk paid homage to all the great NBA players with Mexican roots.
Pattern, Texture, Depth
Using multiple layers of pattern and texture to create deeper visual interest.
Adding It Up
Many layers spaced out in z-space with a bit of camera movement is a tried and true technique in the motion graphic toolbox.
